After two years of work on the project “Around Mont Blanc” within the Cross-Border Integrated Plan of the Mont Blanc area (PIT EMB), the Syndicat Mixte Pays du Mont-Blanc, as lead partner of this initiative, together with partner organizations from the three countries of the Mont Blanc region, officially announced the creation of the Association of Hut Keepers and Guesthouse Owners of the Tour du Mont Blanc.

On Thursday, December 1, 2011, 30 of the 51 hut keepers and guesthouse owners along the Tour du Mont Blanc gathered at the Majestic Congress Center in Chamonix for the first General Assembly of their Association.

This meeting was held in the presence of Mr. Yann Jaccaz, Vice President of the Syndicat Mixte Pays du Mont-Blanc in charge of the “Around Mont Blanc” project, and Mr. Jean-Louis Verdier, Deputy Mayor of Chamonix.

During the Assembly, participants voted to elect the first members of the Association’s Board of Directors (12 members, with at least 3 representatives per country).

The Board is composed as follows:

• President: Julien Jean, Auberge La Boërne, Chamonix (France)
• Vice President: Marcella Biondi, Chalet Val Ferret, Courmayeur (Italy)
• Vice President: Bernd Rosenthal, Relais d’Arpette, Champex (Switzerland)
• Treasurer: Catherine Botholier, Refuge du Fioux, Saint-Gervais (France)
• Secretary: Angèle Bourgeois, Refuge des Mottets, Bourg-Saint-Maurice (France)

The Board of Directors now includes a total of 13 members, and the Association brings together 43 members.
