My good habits
My Tour du Mont-Blanc
I prepare it beforehand, I live it fully along the way, and I keep the memories forever!
And for my trek, I follow… Best practices!
For my accommodation:
- I booked in advance
- I informed my host of any special dietary requirements
- I notify my host as soon as possible in case of delay or cancellation
For my hike:
- I respect the silence of the mountains
- If I miss music, I use my personal headphones
- On the trail, I give priority to uphill hikers
For my picnic:
- I use a reusable bag to carry it
- When leaving the hut, I only take what I will actually eat
- In the mountains or in a hut, I keep my waste and dispose of it properly later
- On arrival at my stage, I look for a compost bin, recycling bins, or a waste bin for the rest
For my wet clothes:
- I wring them out outside before coming in
- I use the drying room provided
- I don’t wear my hiking boots inside the building
For my well-being:
- I listen to my host’s recommendations and respect the schedules
- I keep my backpack on the floor and never on the bed
For my night’s rest:
- I brought my sleeping bag liner, for both comfort and hygiene
- And of course, I packed my essential earplugs!
For my survival – and for the planet’s:
- I save water
- I use it sparingly for washing clothes or dishes, only in designated areas
- I take short showers, with consideration for others
For staying connected to the world:
- I share my day and adventure discreetly
- I recharge my phone if possible, but I know how to survive without batteries or internet…
And above all, I know how to:
- Lend a helping hand if needed
- Make sure I’ve paid my bill before leaving
- Respect these places that welcome me
- Respect their cleanliness
- Respect my fellow hikers and neighbors
- Respect my hosts, who work long, hard days — passion does not eliminate fatigue!
